  So far I’ve been to Italy and England, although I’d like to visit more countries in the future.

  I went to England in the summer of 2017 while I was touring with the choir I was a part of. I went to Italy as a school trip to learn about the history

• Waar ik het meest trost op ben

  Well I’m just glad I woke up today🙂

  But seriously, I really enjoy math, so I am very proud of being in a third year level math class in my first year of high school. I’ve also been working on piano since I was three, so I guess I’m proud of that too because it takes real commitment!!

• Mijn interesses in andere culturen

  I’ve always found other cultures fascinating because many of them are so different from my own experiences. I’m 1/4 Korean, so I am especially interested in learning about Korean culture as well as the language. I really want to visit Korea, and it’s possible that I will next year, although it’s not set it in stone. But my fingers are crossed!!🙂

  Well I’ve been playing piano for a long time as I mentioned before, but I’m not sure if that makes me an expert. I’d like to think that it does though. 🙂

• Een persoonlijke uitdaging

  I did a ropes course in fourth grade, which was kind of traumatizing (it’s a long story), and I survived middle school, which still baffles me to this day.

• Je favoriete boek/schrijver/films

  Favorite books:
  Lord of the Rings, the Hobbit, and basically everything by Jules Verne

  Authors:
  Tolkien and Jules Verne

  Films:
  I like horror films like the Conjuring franchise, and I also watch a lot of Korean romcoms. Also every Akira Kurosawa film.

• Voor één jaar in het buitenland wonen

  I think I would go to South Korea so I could meet new people and immerse myself in the language. I’m hoping that I will someday🙂

  I really like talking about my life goals and I enjoy hearing about other people’s as well. Also, any deep philosophical/intellectual discussion is welcome. I also enjoy talking about cultural difference as well as school and daily life.

• De wereld een betere plaats maken

  This is going to sound totally cliche, but I think that we should find ways to end wars and oppressive governments. How? I’m not sure. If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them

• Persoonlijke vaardigheden

  I have the ability to look at things analytically and pay attention to detail, which I suppose is why I like math.

  I really loved watching Winnie the Pooh!! Do you know it?

  Uhh.... you can hear a blue whale’s heart beat from two miles away... I read it on the internet.

• 10 jaar vanaf nu

  Well, by then I’ll hopefully have a college degree and a good job, maybe as an actuary, statistician, or investment banker. It would also be nice if I was married, or at least in a committed long term relationship, but you never know.

  I’m really excited to go to college, because it’s a place where you can be intellectually free (usually) and you can meet all types of people! I’m hoping to study abroad in Korea, and travel to different spots all over the world.

  People have told me that I have a sharp sense of humor, but I’m not sure what exactly that means.

  Well, in my parents’ generation it was a lot safer for kids. For example, both my parents walked to school on their own in kindergarten, but nowadays that wouldn’t be safe.

• Het is nu beter

  I think that a lot of technological advances have been made since then, making a lot of things more convenient now than they were back then. It used to be that if you wanted information about something, you had to go to the library and look through books, sometimes for hours, until you found what you needed. Now, we can look something up on the internet and get the information right away. I also think that the fashion has improved, in my humble opinion.

  I wish more people would understand how their rude/inconsiderate actions affect others. Better yet, I wish people would care about how their actions affect others.

• Toen ik een kind was, wenste ik...

  I wish I would have been more athletic when I was younger. I’m not overweight by any standards, but I’m out of shape and I get short of breath too easily. That’s something that lately I’ve been trying to change about myself.

• Een carrière zonder obstakels

  If I could pick any career, it would probably be a lottery winner🙂

  But actually, I would want to be in a career that is high paying and involves math and finance.

• Mijn ouders en ik

  I would say the biggest mentality between my parents and me would be the social/communication differences between my generation and theirs. They don’t always understand the social norms of my generation, and I don’t always understand the social norms of theirs.

• Mijn gevoel over de toekomst

  I’m feeling really optimistic about the future!! I’m very excited for college, and I’m hoping I’ll get a high paying job and possibly meet “the one.”

• Mijn mening over de menselijke aard

  I’m sorry, this is going to sound cynical, but I think that human nature is to be selfish. Think about it. Even when you help another person, you’re doing it because it makes YOU feel good about when something good happens to them, so ultimately, you’re still in a way doing it for yourself.

• Ik maak me zorgen over...

  I’m a bit concerned about my study habits to be honest. I procrastinate way too much, which is something I’m working on changing.

• Een truc of een stukje advies

  Don’t goof off in high school and act like your grades don’t matter, because having poor grades in high school is going to make your life difficult. Also, don’t do anything illegal like vaping, drinking, smoking, or sending nudes when you’re underage because that could have serious consequences.

• Spijt

  I regret not putting more effort into my freshman year of high school because I believe that if I did, I would have gotten better grades.

• Het verbeteren van het schoolsysteem

  I really think more schools should invest in programs for learning different languages. It’s a great way to improve your mind and be able to connect with new people!!

• Overschat of onderschat

  Overrated:
  Hamilton, Adele, Queen, and Leonardo DiCaprio (please don’t hate me!! I’m not saying I think they’re bad, I’m just saying that I don’t think they’re as great as they’re made out to be.)

  Underrated:
  Classical music, broadway, old movies, and math

  I really want to find a long term pen pal to connect with and form a deep friendship with. Also, please, for the love of God, don’t send me a pick up line or I will cry.
